#1802-1, with treasury signatures of Edward E. Jones as Register of the Treasury and Walter O. Woods as Treasurer of The United States. The cashier of this bank is R. Fargubar and the President of the bank is A.

This bank chartered on September 3, 1898. The bank issued 9,480 small size Nationals, from 1929 thru October 15, 1931 when the bank went into receivership. Banks that went out early in the note issuing period are usually scarce, and more likely to remain so. This was a one bank town, as no other National Banks in this town issued National Currency.

The note has four full margins, and is very nicely centered. This note has seen circulation, and is lightly soiled on the obverse, while the reverse is much cleaner. All in all, this note still has some brightness and paper body remaining. I do not see any rips or tears in the note.

I do see five very small pinholes scattered across the surface of the note. I grade this note as a solid Very Fine, but you look at the scans and judge for yourself. The Kelly Census shows 13 small size notes reported on the bank, 1 of which is a series 1929. This note would make a fine addition to any Iowa State banknote collection.

The bank was located in Fremont County, of which only 6 towns issued National Currency. In those 6 towns only 7 National Banks issued currency. This note should appeal to those collecting that County and its surrounding areas. It should also appeal to collectors with the name Sidney, as it is always a nice addition to have a banknote with your name on it, whether you collect currency or not. On top of all of the above, this banknote is sporting a low 2 digit serial number! Don't let this note get away! 6.625% Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or if you need a better scan of the item.
